Presidents Message 2009 PDF Print E-mail

Thank you for allowing me to serve as the WSJA President for the 2009 term. I am excited to work with the Executive Board, association members and Washington State criminal justice agencies. I am especially excited to partner with such talented individuals serving on our board and the dedication they possess to improving services for our network of criminal justice professionals.

As an Executive Board member since 2004, I have worked on many programs and projects. Though we have accomplished much in years past, it is not time to rest as members and agencies alike deal with the effects of the current economic recession. As many of us have learned already, the association must also focus on providing the best service possible at the most reasonable cost. Although our organization is currently strong financially and our membership count is robust, we must look ahead in the coming year to increase the stability of our association.

During the next year I will focus our collective efforts on the following 2009-2010 Executive Board objectives:

  • Convene the Executive Board on a regular basis to provide association oversight,
  • Improve membership services,
  • Provide relevant professional development training,
  • Strengthen ties to the National Jail Association,
  • Establish a regional representative network,
  • Re-create our website to more accurately reflect who we are and how we operate,
  • Update our Constitution and By-laws.
I pledge to conduct all association business with honesty and integrity.

I am accountable to all I serve; I commit to give my full energy and attention to association issues. If at any time you wish to contact me directly, please don’t hesitate to do so. I can be reached at our WSJA website address along with all of the Executive Board.

Brandon Rogel,
